Fisher & Paykel's OR24SDPWSX1 freestanding electric range is a high-end model with many top-notch features that is designed to fit in a small space -- it is just under 24-inches wide.

Although the OR24SDPWSX1 is perfect for a small, elegant apartment, we find that the price of this range is quite high when compared to 30-inch models that are similarly featured. We will, however, concede that there are few -- if any -- other 24-inch models of this quality. In fact, if you require a range that is this small, you may have little choice but to pony up a pile of cash for this range.

If you do decide to invest in this model, you can be assured that it is solidly built and has all the features of a first-rate freestanding electric range. The OR24SDPWSX1 is self-cleaning and styled in a European manner, with knobs for the elements and six tiny, smooth buttons that operate the clock and functions. Standard icons are used to indicate the functions of the controls, which illuminate on a simply styled display panel.

The surface elements are smooth-top, radiant and encased in glass, as is typical of most electric ranges. One dual element is adjustable, so it can be adjusted to provide optimal heat to a variety of pan sizes. The oven offers a performance-oriented convection setting, which enhances baking, roasting and broiling. A special defrost setting is also provided.

The most unique feature of this range is its convenient warming drawer; it allows you to keep foods warm at temperatures from 86 degrees Fahrenheit to 248 degrees F. In addition to temperature, you can control the moisture level inside the drawer.

Though it's truly a range for the cooking connoisseur, Fisher & Paykel's OR24SDPWSX1 fits a special niche -- it's the best 24-inch freestanding electric range we've seen.
