First Alert Escape Light Smoke Alarm SA304

The First Alert SA304 is an ionization (fast flame detecting) smoke alarm that both sounds its 85 decibel alarm and switches on a built-in escape light when it detects smoke. The light, a steady beam similar to a flashlight, is meant to assist occupants as they evacuate. Consequently, this alarm is well suited to hallways, stairways, and exits.
Additional features include a silence and test button, a blinking power indicator, and a missing battery guard. An optional feature is a battery drawer lock that homeowners can use if battery tampering is an issue.
Unlike several other alarms with built-in lights, the First Alert SA304 utilizes only one 9-volt battery. The duration of both alarm and light activation will, of course, be less than units with two batteries.
