Father's Day gift-giving time comes along during the perfect season for camping gear. What better way to show your father how much you care than with a family camping trip? Hopefully your Dad, being the resourceful guy that he certainly must be, has the tent and sleeping bags. But there are other accessories that he doesn’t even know he needs yet--and some that'll make your trip a little more comfortable.
If you're planning on spending more than a day or two roughing it, you'll need a cooler to keep meats and beverages cold. If you're splurging, you can pick him up a Coleman Stainless Steel Cooler for greater durability. The standard chest cooler, both cheaper and widely available, is plenty sufficient for camping trips of any length.

"Roughing it" doesn't have to mean a rough night: everything from quick beds down to inflatable mattresses are available to get in between you and the rock-hard earth as you sleep. Self-inflated sleep mats make it easy and quick to set up for the night (and help you save your breath).
Obviously, you'll need to sit down. Portable chairs range from simple, inexpensive but comfortable folding chairs to more stylized, ergonomic models Either is perfect for Dad to sit and enjoy a beverage while he watches the sun go down. (While we're on the subject of sitting, chairs made to take care of more pressing, basic needs are available, if you're camping without running water.)
There is one convenience of home you can take with you: if Dad doesn't want to give up hot showers, bring hot showers to him. The Zodi Instant Hot Shower provides its own pump, showerhead, and propane tank for 125 minutes' worth of hot water. A solar-powered shower, however, is a much more affordable option if you have the sunlight and the time to wait. Or, if you're like my father, then you know what this is: a five gallon container of water for lugging precious hydration from the spigot back to your campsite--essential for those who really like to rough it.
Chances are, if you're camping for more than a night, you'll want to do some cooking (or watch your dad do some cooking, at least). Coleman's propane grill isn't your cheapest option, but it's versatile enough to cook anything from grilled-cheese sandwiches to steaks. If returning to nature doesn't quench you or your father's old habits like, say, daily morning muffins, Coleman's InstaStart Camping Oven is a surprisingly inexpensive way to bake while camping.

One last gift you can give to make sure your Dad is always prepared, whether you're camping or not, is a Swiss Army knife, an inexpensive and thoughtful gift that never outlives its usefulness, from the woods to the kitchen.
