Evenflo Discovery Infant Car Seat
Date Published: 4/14/08
The Evenflo Discovery Infant Car Seat may be a tempting purchase because of its low price tag, but you can spend just a few dollars more in the Evenflo line and buy a better car seat.
The Evenflo Discovery Infant Car Seat has a three-point harness, rather than a more secure five-point harness, which is our first complaint. Our other gripe is that we didn't like the car seat's lack of padding. We would like to see the car seat lined with safe -- and comfortable -- energy absorbing foam. Plus, the car seat's fabric lining makes us doubt the reality of keeping it clean and we're unsure how the fabric will "wear" if it needs to be cleaned often.
We liked the car seat's leave-in-car base. The infant car seat snaps into and out of the base without hassle, which isn't always an ease-of-use feature we encounter in other models. Still, if one is looking for a basic car seat that holds a child from 5 to 22 pounds in a rear-facing position, this may be an OK buy. This would be especially true if one already has a compatible stroller into which the Evenflo Discovery Infant Car Seat fits.
While the Evenflo Discovery Infant Car Seat doesn't offer much in the way of bells and whistles, it does offer a basic mode of car seat transportation. However, there are models with more safety and comfort features that can be purchased, without spending too much more.
