Shark promotes its 15.6-volt hand vacuum, the SV736 with Twister Technology, as the number 1 best cleaning and most powerful rechargeable, cordless hand vacuum in its class. Those of us at Consumer Guide were so impressed with this little machine, that for once, we find little to dispute in this boastful claim.

Solidly built, this convenient vacuum is well balanced and always feels substantial in the hand. It holds a strong charge for up to 30 minutes and provides plenty of suction power for vacuuming up just about any mess you can find. Appropriate for cleaning upholstery as well as hard surfaces, the SV736 comes equipped with a motorized brush that does an excellent job of loosening pet hair and other debris from fibers. Also included with this model is a handy crevice tool for cleaning corners and other small spaces where dirt is likely to collect.

The machine will initially require a charging period of at least 20 hours, so allow plenty of time before counting on its use. You'll also need to plan on regular emptying, filter cleaning and filter replacement every three months or so to keep this unit operating optimally.

Included with the SV 736 is an optional wall mounting bracket. This bracket requires access to a 120-volt outlet and a small drill for installation. Unlike some models, this unit charges in the nozzle upward position. For this reason, it can be a bit awkward to get it in and out of the charger. But in spite of this slight inconvenience, we'd select Shark's SV736 unit over just about any other handheld vacuum on the market.
