The VX8300 clamshell 3G phone is loaded with features and offers reliable performance. Probably its biggest selling point is the ability to play videos on the crisp 262K-color LCD. And because it can access the high-speed EV-DO network, downloading or streaming these videos is surprisingly quick.
Video or MP3 files can be stored on the microSD card and listened to via speakerphone or a stereo headset. You can also add a Bluetooth headset for wireless enjoyment. The buttons for controlling the music are positioned on the outside of the phone, allowing the VX8300 to easily double as an MP3 player. Other features include: 500-contact telephone book, picture caller ID, a 1.3 megapixel camera, and vibrating ring.
If you do play videos, battery life is obviously important and the VX8300 does not disappoint. You can expect about 4 hours of talk time and 16 days of standby. The downside of this phone is that most of the video and MP3 features require subscription and/or cost money to download files. Otherwise, this is a great phone with solid performance.
Pros: video capabilities, EV-DO network, intuitive design
Cons: streaming video requires subscription
