Envision EN7410e 17-inch LCD monitor
Date Published: 10/2/07
The Envision EN7410e is a good choice for an entry-level 17-inch LCD monitor. It doesn't offer much in the way of extras, but it's a solid performer. The package includes all of the necessary cables, and the display supports the drivers that come with Windows, so you can have it up and running in a matter of minutes.
The EN7410e has a native resolution of 1,280X1,024, and the 12-millisecond pixel response time helps reduce blurring or ghosting when viewing video or playing fast-action games. Image quality is adequate, with good contrast and fairly sharp images and text, except at small font sizes. Color quality isn't good enough for high-end or even mid-level graphics work, but it will do nicely for basic office applications or internet surfing.
The display has a solid base that doesn't take up too much desktop space, but it's not especially heavy or stable. The unit is well balanced, but if you press too vigorously on the control buttons on the front panel, you might accidentally push the EN7410e over.
The EN7410e doesn't offer much in the way of adjustability. You can tilt the display 5 degrees forward or 20 degrees back, but you can't raise or lower its height, swivel it, or pivot between portrait and landscape modes. The EN7410e is VESA-compatible, so you can always add an arm or wall mount for adjustability, although that cancels out some of the cost savings.
A row of buttons on the bottom-front panel provides access to the on-screen display (OSD), power on/off, and an auto adjustment feature. Four of the buttons are navigational buttons that let you move up or down in the OSD menus, or increase or decrease a function such as brightness or contrast. The auto adjustment button lets you return the display to the factory settings or exit the OSD menu. The menus are straightforward and easy to navigate.
The EN7410e package includes a signal cable, power cable, quick start guide, and user guide.
MSRP data was unavailable, but the EN7410e can be found at retail outlets for approximately $230.
Pros: Decent features makes this a good entry-level LCD. Adequate image quality. On-screen menus are easy to navigate.
