The EIZO FlexScan S2410W is a 24-1/10-inch widescreen LCD display that delivers top-notch image quality and a number of handy features, but its price puts it out of reach of most home users as well as many business users.

Image quality is excellent across the board. The S2410W's 1,920X1,200 native resolution produces text that is sharp and easily readable, even at small font sizes. Colors are rich and vivid, with good contrast and exceptional detail, even in highlights and shadows.

The widescreen format is perfect for video, for viewing facing pages of a document or for working simultaneously in multiple applications. You can even display an inset window to watch video while working in another program. The display rests on an arc-shaped support that offers 95mm (about 3-3/4 inches) of height adjustment, and it can tilt 5 degrees forward or up to 60 degrees back. The base swivels 172 degrees right and left, or you can remove it and mount the monitor on the wall.

The 8-millisecond pixel response time is fast for a display of this size. We didn't see any blurring or ghosting in our test video or when playing 3-D games. The S2410W is an excellent choice for viewing, creating or editing graphics and video, and it is an ideal (if expensive) display for diehard gamers.

The S2410W has a pair of DVI-I inputs, so you can share it between two computers. This makes its price a little easier to bear if you happen to work with both Macs and PCs. Two USB ports are present on the left side of the display for plugging in scanners, digital cameras or other peripherals.

The Fine Contrast feature lets you optimize display settings to match the work at hand. There are five display modes (Text, Picture, Movie, Custom and sRGB), and each mode has its own brightness, contrast and color temperature settings for the optimal display of text or graphics. A button on the front of the S2410W switches modes quickly and easily.

The package includes a setup manual, power cord, USB cable, analog (15-pin D-sub) and digital (DVI-D) cables, user guide and drivers and software on CD.

The EIZO FlexScan S2410W offers image quality that will please the pickiest graphics professionals. Only its price prevents it from earning a Best Buy rating.
