The SC8355 is part of Eclipse's series of component speakers. Component speakers mean that the woofer, midrange, and tweeter (and in this case, the crossovers) are all housed separately, as opposed to being mounted in one complete device. Eclipse has been producing quality component sets for several years now, and the SC8355 is no exception.

The SC8355 is a three-way system based around a 5-1/4-inch woofer. The crossover frequency between the woofer and midrange is fixed at 1,400Hz, and the crossover between the midrange and tweeter is set at 5,000Hz. These frequencies are fine-tuned for the particular components, and the result is a clear and well-balanced sound.

The overall system is rated at 85 watts for continuous power handling and 250 watts maximum power, with a sensitivity of 87dB. While component speakers require a bit more effort to install, when they sound as good as the Eclipse SC8355 the payoff easily justifies the extra wrench work.
