Digital Spectrum MemoryFrame MF-575 Digital Picture Frame

Date Published: 10/29/07

The MemoryFrame MF-575 digital picture frame from Digital Spectrum offers a few interesting features, but the overall performance leaves it well behind most other models.

To load photos, you can use a memory card or connect a computer through a USB port, but the MF-575 has no internal memory for storing photos. If there are MP3 files on your memory card, you can play audio through the MF-575 to go along with your slideshow.

The MF-575 includes a variety of frame styles and colors for some stylish flexibility. However, this model isn't constructed very sturdily, and the plastic frame seems to be of poor quality. The frame itself is also larger and bulkier than necessary.

With a 5-3/5-inch diagonal measurement, the MF-575's screen is smaller than most models. The resolution, contrast ratio and brightness all are below average as well, and the low resolution is especially problematic, causing photos to appear grainy. The MF-575 supports only four different types of memory cards. You cannot run the MF-575 from a battery, as it must be connected to an outlet via the included AC adapter.

Some users have reported problems with the operational reliability and durability of the MF-575, although we did not experience any such issues during our testing.

With the low resolution, sparse features and reported reliability issues, you'd be better off spending a bit more money up front than opting for this digital picture frame. Despite the low street price of about $75, it's tough to recommend the Digital Spectrum MemoryFrame MF-575.

Pros: Inexpensive, frame color can be changed
Cons: Poor resolution, reported durability problems, no battery capability, no internal memory, below-average features and performance
