With a powerful 140 watts into seven channels and a host of processing modes, the Denon AVR-4806 receiver is an extremely versatile home theater component. The AVR-4806 is THX Ultra2-certified, and it has processing for DTS Neo:6, DTS-ES, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic IIx and, for an amazing surround experience while listening privately, Dolby Headphones.
With seven channels of amplification available, you can configure the AVR-4806 to supply audio and video to a second room, as well as pre-amplified audio and video to a third location. Optimizing the sound for the main listening room is a quick and painless process, as this A/V receiver has an auto-calibration system and comes with a sampling microphone.
The AVR-4806 has HDMI and DVI switching, and it will up-convert analog signals, so you only need one connection to your television. It has Denon Link (IEEE 1394) for DVD-Audio and SACD digital signals. There is a 7.1 channel input, eight digital audio inputs and three outputs and eight composite video inputs. The AVR-4806 also has a dedicated phono input, as well as a 7.1 pre-amp output.
There is a built-in AM/FM tuner with presets for 56 stations. In addition, the AVR-4806 is also an XM Satellite Radio receiver, and all you need to listen to XM's 170-plus channels is a paid subscription and an antenna (sold separately). Performance features include a Pure Direct mode that shuts off all video processing for the cleanest possible audio signal. With powerful amplification, THX Ultra2 certification and XM compatibility, the Denon AVR-4806 A/V receiver is a very good value, even at its high price point.
