Delta 10-Inch Band Saw with Stand BS150LS
Date Published: 6/3/08
The Delta 10-Inch Band Saw with Stand BS150LS is ideal for most home workshops. The 10-inch throat will handle the demands of small woodworking projects, including crosscutting, ripping, resawing stock, and cutting wide radius curves. It comes with a ball-bearing 0.5-hp motor that runs at 1120 rpm and 3000 sfpm. The saw frame is cast-iron, which gives it good stability.
We were particularly pleased to see that the upper blade guides are rack and pinion adjustable. This facilitates setup as compared to units where you slide the guides to the correct position and then use a screw clamp to secure them. Other adjustments, including blade tensioning, lower blade guides, and blade support bearings, can be made without undue fuss. Saw brushes on both large-diameter wheels help to prevent tracking problems.
The saw table is an ample 11.8x11.8 inches and includes a miter guage slot. It can tilt 3 degrees left and 45 degrees right. The BS150LS comes with a stand (which you must assemble). The on/off switch must be locked with a padlock as opposed to the removable plastic key used on most stationary power tools. We feel this is overkill for a bandsaw and a nuisance for the owner. The padlock is not included with the saw. This model can be found online for $199.00
