Dell UltraSharp 2007WFP 20-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor

Date Published: 5/13/08

The Dell UltraSharp 2007WFP is a 20-1/10-inch LCD display that bundles a number of welcome features in a very attractive package.

The 2007WFP's widescreen format is ideal for graphic design, as it lets you view a pair of facing pages simultaneously. It's also useful for working in multiple applications at once, providing enough space to view several windows (although not necessarily the entire window in all cases).

The thin black bezel serves as a sharp frame for the screen, making it appear slightly larger than it is. The Y-shape base is sturdy and doesn't take up much desktop space. It also allows 7 inches of height adjustment, so you are sure to find a height level that is comfortable for you.

Setting up the 2007WFP is easy. It supports digital and analog inputs, and both types of cables are included in the package. The 2007WFP also has composite and S-video connections. We would have liked to see a component video input, but the connectivity is still better than in many comparable models.

Four downstream USB ports are present on the display, so you can use it as a USB hub for plugging in webcams, digital cameras, scanners and other peripherals. Five control buttons provide access to the OSM (on-screen menu), which is clearly organized and easy to navigate. One of the buttons lets you switch between input types.

The 2007WFP has a native resolution of 1,680X1,050. Image quality is very good, with good contrast and detail in highlights and shadows. Text is crisp and readable, even at small font sizes, and grayscale images are smooth with little evidence of color tints. Color fidelity is above average, making the 2007WFP a smart choice for professional graphics as well as for business and general purpose use.

The 2007WFP is as good at video as it is at other tasks. We saw little ghosting or blurring in our test videos and favorite 3-D games. There is virtually no task this display can't handle.

The Dell UltraSharp 2007WFP widescreen LCD display offers a number of features and fine image quality a price that is sure to please.

Pros:  Great value, very good image quality with good color fidelity, multiple input and adjustment options, four downstream USB ports for peripherals, includes PIP and PBP (picture-by-picture) support
Cons:  No component video input, doesn't automatically adjust the image when you pivot between landscape and portrait modes
