Dell UltraSharp 2001FP LCD monitor

The UltraSharp 2001FP is nothing if not flexible. You can tilt this display 5 degrees forward and 20 degrees back, swivel it 45 degrees side-to-side, and switch from portrait to landscape mode. Before you can take advantage of this last option, however, you must obtain a portrait driver from Dell. Drivers for some video cards are available for free from the Dell website, while others demand a small fee.
The 2001FP offers about 7 inches of height adjustment, which is a major selling point for those of us who wear bifocals. The height adjustment option is also handy if you have neck or upper back problems, or a less-than-ideal desk and office chair combination. If you want even more adjustment options, the 2001FP is VESA-compatible, but you'll have to supply your own wall-mount kit.
The 2001FP is easy to set up. While heavy for added stability, the base is quite compact, so it is easy to find room for it on a crowded desktop. The display includes D-sub and USB analog inputs and a DVI-D digital input, as well as S-video and composite video connections. It also boasts four additional USB ports, so it can double as a USB hub if you have more USB devices than ports on your computer.
The 16-millisecond response time is fast, particularly for a 20-inch display. Blurring and ghosting are minimal, making the 2001FP a good choice for 3-D gaming or watching a favorite DVD. The display has a maximum resolution of 1,600X1,200 at 60Hz. Images are bright, colors are vivid and accurate, and text is sharp, even at small sizes.
Buttons on the front of the display provide access to on-screen controls for switching between analog and digital modes, adjusting color, brightness, and contrast, and other settings. The on-screen menu is intuitive and easy to navigate.
There are no built-in speakers, but speakers aren't usually a strong point for most displays anyway. An optional speaker module with microphone jack is available for around $40. The UltraSharp 2001FP package includes a D-sub cable, DVI-D cable, drivers (except for portrait mode), and an electronic user guide.
Pros: Multiple adjustment options, including portrait and landscape modes
Cons: If you want to use portrait mode, you'll have to download or purchase drivers, depending on your video card
