Curtis RCD163A boom box
Date Published: 1/7/08
The RCD163A from Curtis is a bargain boom box that delivers surprising playback abilities for its very low price point. The centerpiece is a top-loading single-disc player that accommodates CD and CD-R/RW, but it will not play MP3 files. It has a 32-track programmable memory, and it also provides random-track playback, repeat play, and track-skip playback.
The unit contains an AM/FM tuner and has an antenna for better reception. There are no station presets. Two full-range speakers provide an adequate sound output, and a small LCD display shows track number and other basic information. The unit operates on six C batteries or AC power.
This isn't the most powerful or full-featured boom box and it won't impress any audiophiles, but for its low price the Curtis RCD163A boom box does provide competent CD and radio playback in a tidy package.
