Cuisinart has updated its Smart Stick Hand Blender and combined it with a versatile mini-chopper, whisk, and beaker to produce this sleek and efficient package. Styled in brushed stainless steel with black accents, this unit snaps apart and reassembles in a number of configurations for chopping, whipping, and/or blending a range of ingredients. A simple touch-and-release on/off button lets you control the 200-watt motor. Hold for continuous blending or squeeze and release for short pulse-like bursts of power. The motor shaft itself is just over 7 inches long and only 2 inches in diameter. Once you attach the blending rod, the length doubles to provide extra depth for reaching to the bottom of deep saucepans, stockpots, beakers, or mugs. The convenience of blending in virtually any container cannot be understated. Of course, if you need a container, the supplied 16-ounce beaker is always handy. The beaker has ounce, cup, and milliliter markings for measuring. One of this unit's "smart" features is the 2-cup chopper/grinder attachment, which basically transforms the Hand Blender into a mini chopper for quick dicing, chopping, and pureeing of ingredients in an enclosed plastic bowl. The chopper makes short work of dicing carrots, apples, celery, or onions, and also provides a handy vessel for pureeing smart quantities of cooked vegetables for soups, sauces, or baby food. The whisk attachment is great for whipping cream or egg whites in a separate deep bowl. The speed of this unit is impressive so you'll want to be sure your bowl is deep enough to prevent splatters.
