The Cuisinart Griddler Panini and Sandwich Press GR-1 is a compact appliance that produces authentic Panini sandwiches in minutes. With its 11x7-inch raised grill surface, the Griddler is ideally suited for grilling two medium-size sandwiches, quesadillas or toasted bread for Bruschetta.

This unit features an attractive brushed stainless-steel and black housing with die-cast aluminum handle. The ridged grill plates produce an attractive scored surface with a crispy exterior surrounding the warm filling. You can make Panini from just about any bread, cheese, meat and/or vegetable combination. Sample recipes are provided or you can experiment to find your own favorite blend of ingredients.

The Griddler's top plate is attached to the unit's handle with two screws located at either side so it more or less "floats" above the bottom plate. As you lift the handle to open the unit the top plate is raised. When you lower it, the "floating hinge" design adjusts the height depending on the thickness of the sandwiches being cooked. A stay-cool black plastic handle insert prevents scorched fingers.

The Cuisinart Griddler Panini and Sandwich Press GR-1 also has just one temperature setting so there's no guesswork when it comes to grilling sandwiches. Just plug the unit in to begin heating. Green and red indicator lights signal that the unit is heating and when it has reached the correct cooking temperature. Other features include nonstick plates and a specially designed scraping tool for easier cleaning.
