The Zen Touch from Creative is a very nice MP3 player that stands poised to give Apple's iPod a run for its money. The product name refers to the intuitive touchpad interface that leads to effortless operation. This 20GB system can store music as MP3, WMA, or uncompressed WAV files.

The system has a very good search function, which is essential when loaded up with 10,000 WMA or 5,000 MP3 files. The Zen Touch comes with MediaSource software for ripping CD, and files are easily transferred via Windows Explorer and a USB 2.0 connection. The Zen Touch also has an onboard four-band equalizer with eight presets, as well as an FM tuner. When used in conjunction with a separately available wired remote, the player can record directly from the tuner or be used as a voice recorder.
