Craftsman 17765 wet-dry vacuum
Date Published: 4/21/08
In the middle of the Craftsman pack of wet-dry vacuums is the 17765, which is large enough for most shop cleaning jobs while still being light enough to move around. And at about $80, the price is also mid-range.
Power comes from a 10.5-amp motor that the manufacturer rates at 5 peak hp, sufficient for most cleanup jobs around the basement and shop. At 23 pounds, this model is a little heavier than some models but that's okay as there are four casters that allow it to easily roll where you want it. The electrical cord is longer than many; it's 20 feet in length and, when not in use, wraps around the case.
The hose is 7-feet long and 2-1/2 inches wide with two 2-1/2-inch extension wands included. When not being used, the wands clip to the polypropylene case. The Craftsman 17765 includes three nozzles: car, squeegee and utility. Suction is strong due in part to the tank's superior seal. This model is more than adequate for most jobs. There's a handy drain at the base of the case for quickly draining water.
If you're looking for a moderately priced wet-dry vacuum that will handle most jobs around your shop, basement or garage, take a good look at the Craftsman 17765 (Sears item 00917765000). It's well built and has adequate features and tools for the typical household. And it's neither fancy nor expensive.
