Craftsman 14.4-Volt Cordless Drill/Driver 11535
Date Published: 1/31/08
The Craftsman gray 14.4-volt, 3/8-inch 11535 has variable speed operation that delivers from 0 to 600 rpm.
(Craftsman's "gray" tools are for moderate-duty and are designed for occasional users, such as homeowners; Craftsman's "black" tools are for pros and for heavy-use amateurs.)
The chuck on the 11535 has two sleeves, not quite as convenient as the single-sleeve chucks of higher-priced models, but still more convenient than keyed chucks.
Two batteries come with the tool, but the charger takes 3 to 6 hours versus 1 hour for the pro models. There is only one leveling bubble at the top, for horizontal drilling--you're on your own for drilling plumb. Torque is less as well, but so is the price. The unit comes with two double-ended driver bits and a case.
It has a 24-position adjustable torque clutch, an electric brake, a built-in LED light, and onboard storage for bits. In addition, it's more compact (9 inches long and 10 inches high) and lighter than its pro cousins. The Craftsman 11535 represents a good value for what it offers.
