Craftsman 12-Inch Band Saw 22400

Date Published: 6/8/06

The moderately priced Craftman 12-Inch Band Saw 22400 has the capability to handle just about anything a homeowner or serious amateur woodworker can throw at it.

The 7-amp motor delivers 3/4 hp (continuous duty). Speeds adjust from 1450 to 3000 fpm. Cutting height and resaw capacity is a full 7 inches, greater than far more expensive units. The throat depth is 12 inches. The cast-iron table is an ample 15-3/4x20-3/8 inches and tilts a full 45 degrees.

The cutting height is easily adjusted with a rack and pinion gear, and the unit has a fence. This unit operates smoothly thanks to its weight and to the micro-adjustable ball-bearing blade guides above and below the table. In addition to the fence, this unit features a task light, a stand with an open shelf, and a blade. A miter gauge is not included.

The construction quality of the Craftman 12-Inch Band Saw 22400 is above average with 12-gauge steel frame and 18-gauge steel doors.
