Cosco Protek Belt Positioning Booster 22291
Date Published: 7/31/07
The Cosco Protek Belt Positioning Booster is designed for use by children who weigh 30 to 100 pounds. It has a seven-position adjustable headrest, padded armrests and built-in belt-positioning guides on both sides of the seat.
A cup holder is a handy extra, but we aren't quite pleased with the comfort-factor of this booster seat. While it meets voluntary JPMA and mandatory federal safety standards, it is a very basic chair. The seat padding is little more than a cover for the hard inner seat, and our testers didn't find it comfortable for very long.
The armrests seem like a good feature, but they aren't long enough. Ultimately, they become something else on which to catch a sleeve or coat hem.
That said, we do like the ability adjust the Protek Belt Positioning Booster 22291's headrest, which comes with a pillow. This is one of the more comfortable features of the booster, particularly because the headrest has molded side wings.
Overall, the booster seat is easy to use and it's a simple process to guide a vehicle's safety belts into position. The seat belt guides on either side of the seat add to the simplicity of the process.
The Protek Belt Positioning Booster 22291 is a good option at a low price point, but not a booster seat we'd choose for a road trip.
Pros: Attractive color scheme, low price point
Cons: Armrests too short, padding is minimal
