Clarion ProAudio DXZ755MC auto CD player
Date Published: 1/9/08
The Clarion ProAudio DXZ755MC takes advantage of many of today's hottest technologies, with one standing out from the rest. In addition to MP3 and WMA playback from CD and CD-R/RW, this unit has Music Catcher technology.
Music Catcher uses 128MB of storage built into the head unit, which will store about six CD worth of music in the WMA format. Just load a disc and hit a button to start the ripping process, and that disc's music data is stored internally in the head unit. The DXZ755MC uses a special filter to recreate some of the frequencies lost in the encoding process from MP3 and WMA codecs. If all this doesn't provide enough listening options, the DXZ755MC is Sirius-ready.
There are three sets of preamp outputs and an integrated crossover, but the DXZ755MC also sports an internal amplifier that provides up to 53 watts peak power into four channels. There is also a two-band equalizer and selectable bass boost.
An auxiliary interface allows the input of a portable digital audio device, and other Clarion devices can be connected via a CeNET interface. The DXZ755MC has a gorgeous full-color display with a motorized faceplate that is detachable for security.
All in all, Clarion's Pro Audio DXZ755MC proves to be an excellent piece of technology, and the Music Catcher alone could be worth the price of admission.
