Chicago Cutlery Landmark Edition Asian Set 1067892
Date Published: 6/20/08
Part of the Chicago Cutlery's 75th anniversary collection, the three-piece Landmark Edition Asian set is a beautifully packaged two-knife set that includes a 5-inch Partoku knife, a 7-inch Santoku knife, and a black storage case with molded foam insert. The blades are forged from high-carbon stainless steel with taper-ground edges that are ultra fine and designed for easy resharpening.
The stainless-steel carries through all the way to the handle to form a one-piece design that is complemented by elegant black polymer grips just on the underside of the handle. The two-tone black and silver handle is attractive and comfortable to hold. The addition of the black polymer also gives the handle a bit of a slip-free feel. The two knives included in this set are probably two of the most useful you will find. The Partoku knife is designed to perform the tasks of a paring knife, yet the blade is wider with a curved edge at the front and hollow oval indentations running along the blade edge to help food release from the blade. The Santoku is a combination Chef's knife and cleaver, designed for all your hard chopping needs. It also has the hollow oval indentations and can cut through tough frozen meat, bone-in chicken, raw vegetables, and more.
We found both knives to be efficient and well balanced for general-use chores, such as chopping, slicing, and mincing. An assortment of additional knives in the Landmark collection are available as open-stock pieces.
