The Char-Broil Grill2Go Advantage is an efficient and versatile portable gas grill that can be used in your backyard or packed up and taken on a road trip or to a tailgating party. This unit functions with a 14.1-ounce, 16.4-ounce, or 20-pound disposable propane cylinder.

This model -- the newest in the Grill2Go line -- is a step up from the previous models. It comes with a 13x26-inch grill body, hinged porcelain-coated steel lid, folding side shelves, folding legs/support base and a pullout grease tray.

There are two removable slotted grates, which allow for authentic flame grilling, plus one hinged flat griddle that can be used in place of one grate, to cook fried onions, potatoes, vegetables and more. The griddle actually flips down to rest on top of the left grate during use, or flips aside when it is not needed. When it is flipped to the side, it actually rests atop one of the side shelves and is flat to function as a metal shelf in that position.

Two control knobs operate the right and left sides of the grill, with flame settings from low to high. A third knob functions as an efficient rotary ignition dial, sending a series of sparks to the burners for quick, easy lighting. The Grill2Go Advantage offers 16,000 Btu of cooking power, which is less than most full-size grills but still more than a match for cooking burgers, chicken, ribs and other barbecue favorites.

We found that the open-style grilling offered a definite advantage over the ridged solid grill plates, which came with a previous model. Because the flames can peek through the grates, foods have a true barbecue flavor. The option of the flat griddle on one side expands your cooking options by allowing you to cook pancakes, eggs and other foods that can't be cooked on an open grate. We noticed that the griddle did take a bit longer to warm up, but it delivered excellent results after it was fully preheated.

Some extras on the Grill2Go Advantage include a condiment basket storage bin, a paper towel holder, multiple grill tool hooks and a handy night light, which provides a battery-powered strip of lights around the handle -- just enough to help you see the controls.

The folding legs are made from sturdy plastic and have two wheels on one side. The wheels are designed to facilitate moving the grill from place to place. The design is such that the wheels work only when the grill is in its folded position. In the upright position, both side legs make contact with the ground and prevent the wheels from engaging.

One slight drawback of this model is you have to lift the grill off its base before you can fold the legs. Once it's done, however, you can set the grill in place again for transport.
