Canon EOS Rebel K2 AF SLR camera with 28-90mm lens kit
Date Published: 6/21/06
The Canon EOS Rebel K2 is a small automatic AF SLR camera and really takes great pictures without much input or adjustments required from the user.
There are 12 shooting modes and 7 programmed image control modes. A prominent bulge on the right around the battery compartment provides a positive one-handed gripping area. The bright viewfinder shows the seven AF point rectangles, and a display along the bottom of the viewfinder lights to indicate which of the AF points is in use. (In user-controlled non-automatic operation modes, you can select which one of the AF points will function.) Other essential operating data is also visible in the viewfinder.
An LCD on the back of the camera displays the actual shooting information and much more. There you can choose to use auto exposure bracketing, multiple exposure, and a host of other options. The majority of the more basic optional modes are set using the mode dial on the body top, but buttons on the back beside the LCD are used to select the additional functions that are not used as frequently.
Testing was done with a Canon 35-135mm zoom lens and the results were consistently excellent with sharp focus on the primary subject at a wide variety of subject distances and light levels. Exposures were proper under a range of lighting situations. The pop-up flash evenly illuminated the field at different focal lengths and gave the proper exposure both indoors and outdoors when used as fill.
The Canon EOS Rebel K2 is fully automated, but has many optional preprogrammed modes so it can be rapidly tailored to suit specific shooting requirements, such as nearby people pictures, mountain scenes, close ups, stopping fast action, and shooting at dusk by simply turning the master control knob to the symbol depicting this type of subject being photographed.
