CameraBright X1 camera flash

Date Published: 4/13/06

The CameraBright X1 camera flash is a handy little accessory that is one most people are not aware of, so they won't realize just how helpful it is until they actually try it.

Attempting to see the intended subject, in low-light conditions, in any type of camera viewfinder or on a digital LCD is typically difficult, until you use a lighting accessory. The small, lightweight CameraBright X1 is easily attached to the camera's tripod socket and you can just leave it there, manually switching it on when needed to compose low-light photos.

A single on/off switch controls the unit. When switched on it projects a constant light to make it drastically easier to see any dimly lit subject either in the viewfinder or on a digital camera LCD screen. When on, it also reduces the possibility of glowing red eyes on the subject. The light is adequate for helping view the subject, but will not interfere with the camera's flash for making the picture.

Three models are offered, and each weighs a mere 2 ounces and is about 1/2 inch thick so they don't add much bulk to the camera. Depending on the size of the camera and location of the tripod socket, it might protrude in the front of the body a bit.

Four button cell batteries provide up to four hours continuous use, and it automatically shuts off to conserve batteries. The brightest CameraBright X1-ER projects a narrow beam of light and has an effective range of up to 20 feet. The CameraBright X1-W produces a warmer, broader light beam, as there is a diffusion lens. The range is then only up to 10 feet so it's preferable for photographing people. Try one, you will really like it.
