The Bunn My Cafe Pourover Single Serve Coffee or Tea Pod Brewer is an innovative, highly efficient machine that dispenses heated water through a front-loading drawer, which holds pre-filled coffee pods or regular tea bags.

This unit is compact and a bit space-age in its styling. It stands 12.4 inches tall with a 10.6x7.75-inch oval footprint. The black and stainless-steel housing includes an oval pedestal base with touchpad controls, removable water reservoir, pod holder, slide-back lid and drip tray. The sleek, tapered body is conical in shape, with a removable water reservoir on the back and a front dispensing station.

Loose-packed coffee or tea pods are inserted in the patented pod holder. Standard tea bags can also be used and, in fact, work quite well. The pod holder is designed to hold round-shaped bags (or pods); however, we found that the traditional square-shaped tea bags also fit without difficulty.

The most amazing thing about the Bunn Pod Brewer is its speed. Once pre-heated, it can deliver a cup of coffee or tea in less than 30 seconds. And did we mention hot? The water dispensed through this machine makes a hotter cup of coffee or tea than most auto-drip coffeemakers. The temperature of the finished brew was about 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Remember the space-age description? During each brew cycle, blue lights come on to spotlight the drip tray. The machine also makes a distinctive whinnying sound during brewing. It reminded us of the transporter beam used in Star Trek.

The water reservoir holds up to 46 ounces of water and can be easily refilled by pouring water through a grate on top of the machine. The clear plastic reservoir is removable as well.

The controls consist of two touchpad buttons -- one for coffee and the other for tea -- and a slide lever, which lets you select the amount of water to brew. You can brew a small 4-ounce serving, a large 12-ounce serving or anywhere in between. The tea button is designed to work with a pulse-action for additional saturation of the tea grounds and better flavor extraction. It brewed a satisfactory cup of tea; however, if you prefer very strong tea, you can remove the tea bag from the pod holder and put it into your cup or mug for additional steeping.

We loved the variety of choice this machine offers. You can vary your daily coffee beverage by simply inserting a different pod. The Bunn My Cafe Pod Brewer works with any loose-packed pods. It is not designed to work with hard-packed espresso pods.
