Bugaboo Frog Standard Stroller

Date Published: 8/3/07

The Bugaboo Frog Standard Stroller is a one-of-a-kind, and it does nearly everything but change a baby's diaper. It can be used with a bassinet attachment or as a single seat stroller with a seat attachment. The stroller's handle can also be used in either direction -- forward-facing or rear-facing. Better yet, Graco and Peg Perego car seats are compatible with this model using the optional Bugaboo adapter to create a complete travel system. This makes the Frog Standard Stroller a versatile choice for newborns, older infants and toddlers up to 40 pounds.

The Frog Standard Stroller has a unique design. We like its lightweight aluminum frame and pneumatic tires, which offer a cushioned ride. Two of the four tires are decidedly smaller, which makes the stroller easier to maneuver over curbs and other uneven surfaces -- it even rides smoothly over sand and gravel! The wheels also allow the stroller to turn on a dime. Really. The Bugaboo Frog Standard Stroller has one of the tightest turn radii we've seen. We do, however, feel that the stroller can be difficult to fold; this relatively complicated process involves two separate steps and we find it easier to only partially fold the stroller for storage.

The Frog Standard Stroller has practical features, such as a five-point harness, removable canopy and a seat with a three-position recline. There is an undercarriage storage bag that we didn't find as useful as other baskets we've tested, and there are no cup holders or other storage compartments for parent or baby necessities. That said, though, the Frog Standard Stroller is hardly "standard." It raises the bar for stroller performance and design. But just as an imported performance car has a higher price tag, so too does the Frog Standard Stroller. Shelling out the $700-plus necessary to turn heads as you stroll to the park, however, can almost be justified once you add up the cost of purchasing a jogging stroller, bassinet stroller and standard stroller separately. It also comes with the Bugaboo Frog under-seat bag, sun canopy, mosquito net and rain cover. Feels better, right?

Pros: Durable, lightweight, tight turning radius
Cons: Pricey, two-part fold takes patience and practice
