Brother Serger 3034D
Date Published: 3/13/07
Brother has identified the features sewing enthusiasts find most desirable in a serger and packaged them together on value-packed model 3034D.
On this model you'll be pleased to find a differential feed, a retractable knife blade and an easy-to-thread lower looper. The differential feed feature offers a ratio of 0.7 to 2.0, allowing you to keep fabrics properly matched while eliminating slipping on a variety of fabrics from wispy thin, to fleecy thick.
The retractable knife blade allows for easy conversion to rolled hemming without the need for time consuming adjustments like foot and plate changes.
Best of all, the Brother Serger 3034D has an easy-to-thread lower looper that is ideal for those experiencing some arthritis in their hands. Most of the complicated poking and prodding of thread through the lower looper has been eliminated by this new and easy to use system.
A 3/4 thread model, the Serger 3034D has color coded threading for each of the four upper threads. Simply follow the color guides, one at a time for each of the threads and you'll be ready to serge in no time.
As an added bonus, Brother's 3034D offers a free-arm. Simply remove the detachable portion of the sewing bed to easily sew inside pant legs and sleeves.
Overall, we find very little to dislike with Brother 3034D and on the upside we love the value-oriented price.
Pros: Easy to thread, converts quickly to rolled hem, differential feed, free-arm, excellent value
Cons: Uses less expensive components than some similarly featured, more expensive models
