Brother's PT-1600 thermal transfer label writer provides a nice combination of flexibility and power for consumers that print more complex labels.

The PT-1600 can operate with tape sizes ranging from 0.25 inches to 1 inch, and with type sizes ranging from about 0.08 inches to about 0.71 inches, giving you some handy choices. The PT-1600 offers only one font, but you can use six different type styles and select from 147 symbols.

The PT-1600 offers a 30-character LCD, giving you a better chance to catch a mistake before you print the label. For most people, the PT-1600 will fit comfortably in one hand while you type with the other. The label writer makes use of an ABCD keyboard layout.

The PT-1600 can print about 10 millimeters (0.4 inches) of labels per second. Unfortunately, the unit does not have an automatic label cutter.

Finally, the PT-1600 can run from six AA batteries or from an AC adapter (additional cost).
