Britax Parkway with True Side Impact Protection
Date Published: 4/19/06
It seems the engineers at Britax have been putting their True Side Impact Protection system to the test, using crash-test mini-dummies in the back seat. The objective? To develop the Britax Parkway with True Side Impact Protection, a booster seat with deep torso and adjustable height head support that can contain a child in a side impact crash.
It does make sense that the wraparound side wings and head rest made of EPS foam would make for a more comfortable seat. Furthermore, the seat shape and lap belt guides lay the lap belt over a child's pelvis in the correct position while the shoulder belt guide keeps the shoulder belt from irritating his or her neck. The color-coded belt guides makes installation an elementary affair. We also like that the base is contoured since a traditional base seems to make such deep pressure dents in the back seat.
However, this doesn't mean you sacrifice stability, thanks to the slip resistant strips on the bottom. And if you're the kind of parent who wants their child's booster seat to complement the interior of your car, you'll be happy to know that the removable, washable cover is available in many grown-up colors and patterns plus a few fun designs for whimsical parents as well.
We liked the way the stylish Parkway performs, particularly its attention to detail.
