The Briel Space Saver MultiPro ED171APG-TB is a three-in-one machine that is expertly equipped to make traditional coffee, espresso and/or cappuccino either individually or simultaneously. This unit's compact design takes up less counter space than the two separate machines that would otherwise be needed to perform the same functions.

Constructed almost entirely from durable stainless steel, this unit stands 17.7 inches wide by 13 inches deep by 15 inches tall. The left half of the machine is devoted to making a traditional pot of coffee. A flip-up lid provides access to the internal water reservoir and cone-shaped filter basket. A single dial control switch turns the coffeemaker on and begins brewing.

A full pot of coffee (10 cups) takes about 6-8 minutes. A nonstick warming plate keeps coffee at the proper serving temperature as long as the power switch remains in the "on" position. There is also a pause-to-serve function, which lets you sneak a cup before the brew cycle has finished.

The espresso function is the real piece de resistance on this machine. With its powerful 18 BAR pump, the Briel MultiPro delivers a superb cup of espresso. We were amazed at the quantity of crema produced -- even with a short shot or prefilled pod.

For the espresso function, the MultiPro is equipped with two brass filter holders -- one to hold sieves for single or double shots of espresso and the other to accommodate pre-packed coffee pods. The patented Crema Master filters are perfectly suited to the task of making that velvety smooth layer of foam that is characteristic of a good cup of espresso.

The machine also comes with a measuring spoon/tamper, removable 2-liter clear plastic water reservoir, removable drip tray, and cup warming plate.

The MultiPro's most impressive feature is the thermo block system, which uses two separate thermostats to regulate the espresso brewing and steaming/frothing processes. This lets you literally switch back and forth between the espresso and steaming functions with no waiting.

The Briel Space Saver MultiPro is equipped with its patented Auto-Espresso-Flow function, with electronic timer that regulates and dispenses the espresso automatically. A variable dial lets you set the quantity -- anywhere from just a few ounces to a full cup and a half.

The Briel Space Saver MultiPro heats up quickly and is ready for brewing in less than 1 minute after turning the power control to the "on" position. Separate power and ready lights let you know the unit is preheated and ready to brew. You can also dispense hot water for tea through the steam nozzle by using the brewing and steam switches simultaneously.
