This unit has an attractive slim line design, with a black and brushed stainless-steel housing and a coordinating stainless-steel thermal carafe. The base stands approximately 13 inches tall, with a 7.6x16-inch footprint. The thin profile saves valuable counter space, while the contrasting silver and black styling presents a striking appearance.

We were impressed with the easy setup and speed of brewing. Since there’s just one button to push, you simply add the appropriate amount of grounds and water, and press the "start" button. A large red indicator light glows to signal that the brew cycle has begun. In less than 10 minutes, the KF 600 delivers a full 10-cup pot of piping hot coffee -- approximately 190.4 degrees Fahrenheit. The fast brewing system delivers optimum taste by leaving behind many of the bitter overtones that can result from over extraction.

The Braun Impressions Coffee Maker includes several convenient features, such as a brew-pause function, which halts the flow of coffee temporarily while you lift the carafe to pour a cup; a removable permanent gold-tone filter; a swing-out filter basket; an easy-view exterior water-level indicator; and auto-shutoff.

One advanced feature deserves special mention. This model includes an exclusive Brita water filter to reduce chlorine, prevent calcification (a common occurrence with auto-drip coffee makers), and improve coffee flavor by removing impurities. The supplied filter cartridge will last approximately 2 months.

We particularly liked the double-walled thermal carafe, which kept the brewed coffee hot for several hours. Although the coffee dropped a few degrees in temperature each hour, the coffee was still steaming and flavorful at the 3-hour mark. The carafe itself was not overly heavy and was quite comfortable to hold thanks to a soft-grip molded handle.
