Bowflex TreadClimber TC1000
Date Published: 4/16/07
The TC1000 is the entry-level model in the new Bowflex line of TreadClimbers, machines designed to combine the movements of two different home fitness products, a stair climber and a treadmill. Unfortunately, while the TC1000 succeeds in providing a good workout, it also manages to combine the price and size of two home fitness products as well. The two platforms on the TC1000 move up and down independently, as you would expect on a star climber, but also operate like two mini treadmills with a maximum walking speed of 3.8 mph. Bowflex offers only a basic electronic display on this model, showing speed, distance and time. While there are 12 different resistance levels, but adjustments cannot be safely made while you're exercising, so you'll have to step off and interrupt your routine every time you want to increase or decrease resistance. Despite providing an effective, low impact workout, the Bowflex TreadClimber TC1000 is an expensive and bulky machine compared to similar home stair climbers.
Pros: Provides effective low impact workouts, solid construction
Cons: Bulky, expensive, limited features, awkward resistance adjustments
