The Bose Lifestyle 38 is the perfect home theater system for someone who enjoys music as much as they enjoy movies, provided they have a rather large budget.

Similar to the other Lifestyle systems, the Lifestyle 38 adds a hard drive that automatically rips up to 200 hours of CD music into memory. The integrated uMusic Intelligent Playback system intuitively organizes the stored music.

The media center houses a progressive scan DVD player that is also compatible with CD, CD-R/RW and MP3 files burned to CD. One very handy feature is Bose's ADAPTiQ function, an automatic calibration system that tunes the system to the home theater room's acoustics.

The Lifestyle 38 system uses five identical Direct/Reflecting dual-cube speakers that create a surprisingly large sound from their tiny cabinets. To complete the soundstage, the Lifestyle 38 adds an Acoustimass bass module to cover the low frequencies. This Acoustimass module can be placed just about anywhere, but as with any subwoofer, you should listen for the best sound placement.
