The speakers are what make this system. The Lifestyle 28 uses Bose's Direct/Reflecting cube speakers that create a huge sound from very tiny cabinets. The subwoofer can be hidden out of sight, although it's attractive enough to leave in a visible location. The progressive scan disc player is compatible with DVD-Video, CD, CD-R/RW, VCD and MP3, and the system has built-in decoding for Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound.

The Lifestyle 28 has inputs and outputs for composite, S-video, and component video signals. There are four analog audio inputs, four coaxial digital audio inputs, and one optical digital audio input. This system also has an analog audio output and optical and coaxial digital audio outputs.
