Bosch Nexxt Front-Load Washer 100 Series WFMC1001UC

One of the least expensive ways to get an efficient, European-styled front-loading washer is with the Nexxt Front-Load Washer 100 Series WFMC1001UC from Bosch. Offering even better energy and water conservation than Bosch's higher-priced models, the uncomplicated WMFC1001UC is more efficient simply because of its simplicity.
Sticking to the basics, the WFMC1001UC employs some of the smallest amounts of water and energy that can possibly be used to wash clothing effectively. This feat is accomplished in part by eliminating many of the convenience features you will find as you move up to more expensive models in the Bosch line.
We ran this model through a few cycles and found some common concerns, not about energy conservation, but in relation to convenience. You'll need to weigh these concerns carefully in order to determine if the WFMC1001UC is right for you. Additionally, you should consider how this model fits your budget as compared with the other selections.
The biggest concern we have with this model is the amount of time that is required to complete a load of laundry on some cycles. The WFMC1001UC has one of the longest wash cycles of any washer -- the cotton cycle with temp boost. To complete a load in this model, you should allow at least 1 hour and 30 minutes. With such a long cycle, we really would have liked a display of the time remaining in the cycle, but there is none on this model. In order to get this feature from Bosch, you will need to purchase a higher-priced model.
Another less imperative concern is the WFMC1001UC's lack of an internal heater. This means the washer relies entirely on your water heater for hot water. Lack of a heater is one factor that makes this model appear so efficient. The energy required to heat the water is not included in the energy usage rating of the washer. Since the Bosch WFMC1001UC has no water heater, it is also unable to boost the temperature of the water during a cycle. If the water cools too much, this model, unlike some more expensive ones that have onboard water heaters, is unable to bring it back to optimal washing temperature. In this sense, the WFMC100UC operates like a conventional American washing machine.
On the plus side, the efficient WFMC1001UC offers 11 wash cycles, which is plenty for most users. It also offers three different rinse temperatures. Three rinse choices may seem like a lot, but many people who choose Bosch select models that offer up to six rinse options.
One of the most economical ways to obtain an energy efficient front-loader is by purchasing this well-made and solidly built Bosch unit. The WFMC1001UC offers uncomplicated simplicity and basic front-loading features at an attractive and budget-oriented price.
