Bosch Evolution Electric Convection Range HES7282U
Date Published: 9/18/07
Relatively new to the range industry, Bosch has expanded and refined its initial offering of ranges and added stainless steel models such as the 700 Series HES7282U. Bosch appears to know what it is doing, as the HES7282U capitalizes on everything the company has been doing right and improves the shortcoming of previous models.
The HES7282U features four easy-to-clean glass elements that heat comparatively fast. Bosch calls two of these elements "expandable," which are more generally known as triple element. These expandable elements can be adjusted so that any of the three heated rings best matches the size of the selected pan. This delivers more accurate and even heating. Surfaces around the heating elements stay cool, so spills are less likely to burn onto the top.
In a very useful twist, each of the elements can convert to a warming zone. Many ranges offer one or two warming elements, but with the HES7282U, all four elements can be used to hold completed dishes at a very low temperature until serving time.
An accurate, even-heating oven is a rarity, and Bosch doesn't disappoint. The HES7282U's oven has the extra hidden element common to European-style convection models. In addition, this oven has eight vents for pushing hot air into the oven, resulting in and even distribution of hot air and uniform baking. There is also a simple self-clean mode, and a handy temperature probe allows you to automatically cook meats to the ideal internal temperature.
If you often entertain, you'll find the HES7282U's oversized lower warming drawer a great addition. You can also store bakeware in the drawer, as long as you don't inadvertently turn on the warmer. Another great feature is the two telescopic racks, which are composed of sections that fully extend over the oven door without tipping. Each rack can hold up to 35 pounds, which is more than any oversized Thanksgiving turkey.
Lastly, the broiler wattage has been upped to 3,600 watts, which is a significant improvement over previous Bosch models. The HES7282U's increased wattage should provide far more satisfactory results than the anemic version offered in the first generation of Bosch ranges.
The HES7282U is Bosch's top-of-the-line stainless range. If you are looking to save a few dollars, check out the partial-stainless HES7252U. But if you want just about every desirable feature on an electric range, the Bosch HES7282U is the one for you.
