Blaupunkt blends its legendary sound quality with a host of useful and entertaining features in the Monterrey MP35. The Monterrey not only plays audio CD and CD-R/RW, but it also can handle MP3 files burned to CD-R/RW. This allows up to ten hours of music playback from a single disc.

The Monterrey is a very customizable system, with an almost infinite choice of background colors for the display. The display itself is mounted on a flip-down faceplate that leaves plenty of space for viewable information. The sound can be customized as well, with three preset equalization curves optimized for rock, pop, and classical music, and the bass and treble can be separately adjusted. The Monterrey also has Blaupunkt's exceptional XBass boost.

The Monterrey amplifier pushes 18 watts (continuous) into four channels. This is not very impressive, but anyone who wants or needs additional power can add external amplifiers through the Monterrey's four pre-amp outputs.

The tuner has presets for 24 FM and 6 AM stations, and an optional adapter allows the addition of external audio devices such as an iPod or plug-and-play satellite radio. The frequency response is 20Hz to 20,000Hz, and the signal-to-noise ratio is 80 dB. All in all, the Blaupunkt Monterrey MP35 is fine-sounding and capable upgrade from a factory-installed or basic aftermarket system.
