Black & Decker 12-Volt 8-Inch Cordless String Trimmer CST800
Date Published: 3/9/06
Although the CST800 string trimmer features Black & Decker's smallest cutting swath (just 8 inches), it's a good choice for little jobs, particularly if you need to maneuver into hard-to-reach spaces. Its light weight (6.5 pounds) is a nice feature, but the fact that the CST800 is cordless is what really makes it simple to use. The 12-volt battery holds enough of a charge to tackle tiny tasks, but not much more. Still, it's a good alternative to gas, especially if you only use it for occasional lawn maintenance. This unit utilizes the bump-and-feed system, which means you need to tap it on the ground to release more line. Bump-and-feed lines can get jammed on occasion, so you might find yourself giving the feeder a little more attention than you'd like. The CST800 comes with a lock-off switch to avoid accidental starting, as well as a charger that can be mounted on the wall.
