Bissell Proheat Self-Propelled Upright Deep Cleaner 7950

Date Published: 3/26/08

In a class by itself, Bissell's Proheat Self-Propelled 7950 takes the hard work out of cleaning the carpeting.

Although a heavy machine, it's easy to operate; a subtle push or pull activates the self-propelled feature and moves this powerful unit along smoothly. Unlike some self-propelled floor machines, there are no jerky or irregular motions to be found here. Better at stain removal than many models, this unit has an onboard heater that works to loosen soil from carpet fibers.

This unit is fairly easy to operate; simply fill the Smartmix container with fiber cleaning solution and add 1 gallon of water to the tank. Two passes applying solution and two passes vacuuming generally clean lightly soiled carpet. Additional and very slow passes may be required to remove serious stains and soil that has built up over a period of time.

Included is a TurboBrush hand tool that helps to loosen soil when cleaning small areas. It is recommended for upholstery and stairs that require more scrubbing than just the basic tool can provide. This model also includes a somewhat unusual floor tool that allows cleaning of linoleum, vinyl, and tile floors, but not wood.

In the same manner that carpet is cleaned, solution is applied and then extracted using the vacuum power. Also included with this machine is a Scotchguard application kit. This kit allows you to apply or reapply protectant to carpeting and furniture.

And, lastly, the Bissell 7950 comes packed with a pre-clean solution for tough spots, a sample of detergent, and a Scothguard Protector Cartridge.

Pros: Has onboard heater, self-propelled feature allows machine to glide along; heavy, durable build
Cons: Expensive, requires some assembly

Warranty
2 years, limited
