Bissell ProHeat 2X Select 9400-M

The Bissell ProHeat 2X Select 9400-M is a hard working carpet cleaner with a number of features that give it a distinct advantage in a category stacked with competitors.
We like the Bissell ProHeat 2X Select's versatility because it can clean carpets and bare floors. A squeegee-type bare floor attachment converts the ProHeat for use on hardwood floors, tile, linoleum and more. We tested this feature and were pleased with its performance. It did a nice job cleaning dirt and smudges from bare floors, but it isn't a system we'd use in small spaces. This model is simply too large to maneuver in a bathroom or other enclosed space. However, for large, open floor plans with mixed surfaces (carpets and bare floors), the ProHeat 2X is a good choice.
This Bissell model does a good job cleaning carpets and doesn't leave them soggy. It is equipped with rolling bristles on the main brush head, as well as edge cleaning bristles. Not only does this Bissell leave carpets clean and quick to dry, but it also leaves them looking brighter and well groomed.
The ProHeat 2X Select 9400-M has a better-than-average selection of onboard tools. Thanks to a 6-inch stair tool, TurboBrush, spraying crevice tool and 3-inch "tough stain" tool, the 9400-M can tackle stairs, upholstery, stains and vehicle interiors. These tools are in addition to the bare floor tool. We tested each tool, and particularly like the TurboBrush because it loosened set-in stains. One distinct advantage this model has over the competition is a built-in heater. The heater increases the temperature of hot tap water up to 25 degrees hotter, and we find this really aids the Bissell's cleaning abilities. Better yet, the heat goes through the attachment hose, too. This makes a positive difference when using the attachments to clean set-in stains, pet stains and more. The heater isn't an "always-on" feature; it must be manually activated with a switch located on the machine's main body. It's also important to note it does not produce steam, so the Bissell is not a true "steam cleaner."
Another improvement the Bissell ProHeat has over its predecessors is the addition of Microban antimicrobial protection. This antimicrobial feature helps prevent the growth of mold, mildew and bacteria that can cause odor -- and it's just one more reason we like the Bissell ProHeat 2X Select. We recommend this model as a Budget Buy for its price and its ability to clean bare floors, remove stains and soil from carpets, as well as its selection of useful onboard tools.
