Bissell Pet Hair Eraser 3920 upright vacuum
Date Published: 3/12/08
The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser 3920 gives you one more tool in your fight against the fallout of your furry friends. Upright and bagless, this vacuum offers a front-mounted lint brush, called a pet hair lifter, which gathers pet hair to be sucked up by the vacuum. Even though all the hair is not directed into the vacuum, a sufficient amount of it is gathered up and either pulled into the dust cup or trapped by the brush.
Pet owners will appreciate the see-through dust cup that makes it easy to know when it's time to empty. They will also likely be impressed that the dust cup is oversized and can hold more than the average amount of pet hair. In addition to the typical dusting/upholstery brush and crevice tool, two pet specific tools for furniture and stairs are provided on this model. These include a fairly anemic TurboBrush and a rubber, pet-contour brush that helps loosen embedded pet hair -- but you will still have to apply a fair amount of elbow grease to loosen all the pet hair.
Other than these pet-specific add-ons, the Pet Hair Eraser 3920 is fairly typical of what Bissell has to offer in a full-size upright vacuum cleaner. A 15-inch cleaning path, combined with a 12-amp motor, a HEPA filter, a motorized brushroll and edge cleaning are just what we expected. Pleasant surprises include a front-mounted headlight for seeing all that hair and a very long 35-foot cord.
If pet hair is your major concern, Bisell's Pet Hair Eraser 3920 makes senses primarily due to the added benefit of the forward-riding lint brush.
Pros: Lint brush gathers hair and lessens likelihood of clogging, plenty of height adjustments
Cons: Lacks brushroll on/off, more suction would be a welcome help for chasing down pet hair, plan on pulling lots of hair out of the lint brush, bulky to store, accessory caddy is flimsy
