BenQ Joybee 210 MP3 player
Date Published: 8/20/08
The BenQ Joybee 210 packs a lot of performance and usability into a tiny package. While the memory is limited to either 128MB or 256MB, this portable audio player has plenty of features that make up for the less-than-voluminous storage space.
The Joybee 210 can make recordings from its built-in FM tuner or from the integrated microphone. It stores WAV, MP3, and WMA files at a variety of bit rates, but of course, the lower the rate, the greater the storage capacity at the expense of sound quality. The playback sound can be enhanced using the on-board equalizer, which has six factory presets. The Joybee 210 has an illuminated blue display that can even show lyrics if included with the music files.
The Joybee 210 comes with earphones, but most users will want to upgrade to better quality phones. The unit is compatible with Windows 98SE/2000/ME/XP and Mac OS 9 and up, connecting via USB 2.0. The lithium-ion battery is rechargeable through the USB connection, and it provides up to 8 hours of playback on a single charge. Available in multiple colors depending on the memory capacity, the BenQ Joybee 210 is a fun way to bring music on the go, as well as capture new music or voice recordings right on the spot.
Approximate prices for the Joybee 210 are $80 for the 128MB version and $120 for the 256MB version (BenQ did not provide MSRP data for these models).
Of course, the Joybee 210 is intended to be just a diminutive, feature-packed player, so anyone seeking a unit to hold an entire digital music library should look elsewhere.
