Benbo 107C Trekker
Date Published: 6/28/05
The Benbo 107C Trekker is a lighter weight version of their classic No. 1 tripod.
English designed and manufactured Benbo tripods are excellent, versatile steadying and holding devices for experienced photographers who can appreciate and properly use the tripods' unique extra movements and capabilities. Each leg is completely independent and thus can be positioned at the desired angle on any surface height.
A large locking lever frees up all three legs, and then securely clamps them in place. A swivel joint at the top can be adjusted through 180 degrees for flexibility, and the center column can be used horizontally or even downward in addition to the more conventional up-down elevator movements. Thus, a camera mounted on this tripod can be positioned for use above or below a subject. This tripod is especially suitable for uneven terrain where a conventional tripod's limited leg span might be frustrating to use. Although there is just one long leg extension, the bottom spiked leg tip is fully enclosed so it can be immersed in water up to 19 inches deep, which might damage a regular tripod leg.
Round knobs, which are used to adjust the leg height, can be easily adjusted with one hand. Since this model is lighter in weight than most models, there is a large hook on the lower end of the center column from which a weighted bag can be suspended for extra balance when this tripod is used with longer lenses or heavy cameras.
The Benbo 107C Trekker is suitable for regular 35mm SLR and medium format cameras. It comes with a ball socket instead of a conventional tilt top head. It was a sheer joy to work with after getting used to the free moving legs. A handy carrying case is included.
