Aussie Travel Grill 2200

The Aussie Travel Grill 2200 is a portable propane-powered grill with heavy-duty nonstick cast aluminum cooking surfaces. In addition to its two-piece solid cooking grid, the Aussie 2200 also comes with a separate stainless-steel wire grate and a griddle.
The design of this grill is really quite clever. It comes fully assembled and folded for compact storage. The main grill body is rectangular in shape, and measures 33-1/2 inches long by 18-3/5 inches deep. A high-quality resin body supports the inner metal components (cooking bowl, burners). There are two standard cooking grids including a longer ridged grid for searing meats, and a smaller flat griddle plate, suitable for frying eggs, onions, hash browns and other foods. Together, the grids provide approximately 310 square inches of cooking space. Although the grids are solid, the grill is designed to allow grease to drain away into a plastic grease cup. For best results, the grill should be placed on a level surface.
The Aussie 2200 also has two 11x11-inch black plastic side shelves, which are rather lightweight. The shelves are supported by the unit's two pullout metal side handles and can be used to rest small items such as plates or utensils.
We were impressed with the sturdiness of the legs on this model, which are made from 1.5-inch-diameter steel for added strength. What's more, however, is the addition of a resin platform shelf, which clips in place on the legs to provide extra storage space during use, and also clamps onto the bottom of the grill for a tidy appearance when the legs are folded down.
In terms of cooking performance, the Aussie 2200 did a fine job. Both burners lit easily with the pushbutton igniter. We cooked hamburgers, hot dogs and marinated chicken pieces. We used the griddle to fry some onions while the meat was cooking. There are two stainless-steel burners (controlled by separate knobs) so you can use just one side or adjust the temperature on either side for a custom cooking effect. The nonstick grill plates remove for easy cleanup in the sink.
The total Btu output for the Aussie 2200 is 11,000. Within minutes, the grill plates are hot and ready for use. Of course, the best thing about the Aussie Travel Grill is its portability. Everything folds together for convenient transporting to picnics, camp sites and other outdoor events. A pullout handle on each side lets you lift the grill for transport, plus, the two recessed wheels let you roll it along like a carry-on piece of luggage.
Pros: 11,000 Btu, two wheels and handle for roll away transport, folds to compact size, two removable non-stick grids and stove-top converter grid
Cons: Side shelves are thin plastic
