AT&T 959 Speakerphone
Date Published: 6/17/08
The AT and T 959 is designed for people who need a telephone without much fuss. Fourteen numbers can be stored in its speed-dial locations, while the phonebook can hold up to 25 numbers. The caller ID log accommodates up to 65 entries.
Probably the best feature of this phone is that it does not need electricity, making it a good option for people worried about power outages. However, the phone does require four AA batteries. Clarity for both the handset and the speakerphone isn't exceptional (the microphone for the speakerphone is fairly weak), but performance is reasonable given the price. The 959 also has a data port, making it easy to connect to dial-up networks. Otherwise, this phone is a basic model, well suited for people looking for a third or fourth phone.
Pros: AC outlet not required, inexpensive
Cons: weak microphone, needs batteries
