Apple iPod photo digital audio/video player
Date Published: 8/20/08
Apple has done it again, taking the massively successful iPod and adding a new twist to create the full-color iPod photo. Available with either a 30GB or 60GB storage capacity, the iPod photo lets users load, store, transfer and share photos and artwork in addition to music.
The iPod photo has a beautiful display, with 65,536 colors and a resolution of 220X176. Playlists, album artwork, games and even an onboard calendar are brought to life. If the situation calls for a larger display, an optional A/V cable allows the connection to a television or projector.
The music side of the iPod photo is just what everyone expects from an iPod, with the ability to transfer music (either MP3, AAC or Apple Lossless) from a computer using iTunes. The player can be programmed to auto-sync with a computer to ensure it has the most up-to-date music files and photos from a computer library. The system can continue to play music while displaying photos.
The 30GB iPod photo will store about 7,500 songs, while the 60GB model stores up to 15,000 songs or 25,000 photos. With optional accessories, photos can even be transferred directly from a digital camera. Battery life is a very impressive 15 hours of continuous music or 5 hours of continuous slideshows with music. Apple continues its tradition of exceptional portable audio (and now video!) players with the iPod photo.
The $349 MSRP is for the 30GB model. The 60GB model has an MSRP of $449.
