Amcor AM-80 air purifier
Date Published: 1/29/08
A chief consideration in choosing an air purifier is not only what airborne pollutants it filters, but how many. With its HEPA filtration system, the AM-80 air purifier from Amcor removes almost all of them -- 99.97 percent, to be exact.
The three-step system starts with pre-filtering using a washable filter, then puts the air through the rigorous HEPA (which stands for "high efficiency particulate air") filter, removing pollutants such as pet dander, dust, pollen, smoke, and mold. The ionization process then creates negatively charged air, which when coming into contact with positively charged (dirty) air, results in a bonding of air particles, making dirt in the air fall to the ground.
The AM-80 air purifier from Amcor has two fan speeds. The pre-filter can be washed with soapy water, and the HEPA filter needs to be replaced every year or so. The Amcor AM-80 air purifier comes with a 1-year limited warranty.
